Default out with limiters!

Has anyone came up with a way to turn off this cars limiters that don't cost 550+ dollars from the get go? I personally believe that if you sell a sports car like this that anyone that even speaks the word "limiter" in the development phase should be immediately executed on the spot that being said there are only 2 on the car that concern me, i couldnt care less about the rev limiter as it actually aids against stupid people blowing up the engine. But the top speed limiter (155mph) and the WOT control (wide open throttle/0-60 acceleration limiter) are a complete waste on a genuine sports car.....

I can understand maybe putting these on the base or touring models, but i have a nismo for Christs sake!! lol thats like going to Iraq, getting an M16 handed to you and saying "you know what? i only want 5 rounds in each of my clips" then proceeding to take out the other 25 in each clip and throw them away.

If anyone knows or has particular skill in reprogramming these cars w/o the aid of a crazy fat wallet it would be most helpful..... and im sure im not the only one frustrated with it :P

I would suggest finding somebody with a "pro tuner" license on either the Cobb or RevUp platforms. I'm sure they would delete the speed limiter for a very fair price. You may have an issue finding one in your area...

What are you talking about with a 0-60/WOT limiter? These cars have no such thing once VDC is turned off... I'm sure the throttle maps can be tweaked to make the engine "feel" more responsive, or the VVEL maps in this case (which cannot be modified as of yet).

When I finally hit 155 and still wanting more then I'll be upset about the speed limiter. Until then it's just about bragging rights and I've got a Z not too many of my friends even start that fight.

hmmm i very well may be wrong about the WOT limiter but it was my understanding that they are to limit wheel spin and maximize take off, not eliminate it all together to PREVENT wheel spin like VDC does. There are many sports cars that have this, but its been factory tuned based on that particular cars performance to best suit launching the vehicle off the line, especially on a car that has a lot of horse power. even with 285 tires in the back 350 FWHP is more then enough grunt to get them roasting and the revs bouncing off the red line, so this assists with it. VDC on the other hand cuts out fuel and air intake to the cylinders as soon as it detects wheel spin for poor road condition control. please correct me if im wrong, im more of a old school car guy so some of the newer car tech is somewhat unfamiliar to me but that's how i understand it. I guess i just don't like the idea of the car being hampered. It just doesn't make any sense to even put a limiter on it in the first place, even a stock 2010 hemi SRT8 Challenger can get up to around 171 (watch top gear) and is limited by aerodynamics, so why so worried about a 6 cylinder import? its true that these days 155 is the limit on most cars, but not all.... so what dictates this exactly?

Thanks for the info WarmandSCSI, would you recommend one of the tuners you can buy from say.... HKS, AEM, or Hypertech? they claim that they just simply plug in under the dash, are custom made for each specific motor (even the nismo vs normal Z) and takes but about 15 min to turn off all the limiters and get a slight tune increase..... this seems to good to be true, otherwise there wouldn't be trained professionals using very sophisticated equipment over the span of days in testing to tune a car. And if they DO work, will they work if you have the car turbo or supercharged since they usually come with a whole new ECU thats been custom flashed.

The WOT limiter is VDC, you can turn that off at anytime on the left of the steering wheel (there is a button).
The speed limiter, unless you are hitting the track I would not be concerned with it.

And even then you'd have to be on a huge track to come close to hitting 155. I think KillerBee was hitting somewhere between 120-140 on at the end of the long-*** front stretch at the Auto Club Speedway oval.

As far as tunes being too good to be true... they aren't They're not going to magically give you 20 whp, but a good tune will improve driveability and will correct a/f ratios, especially on N/A bolt-on cars which need a tune to correct the ratios that their mods have thrown out of whack.

Hate to tell you, but the Nismo isn't that much different than a base or touring model.

Indeed. Hell, the NISMO is slower than the Base 7AT in the quarter mile.

The AT is faster than the SRT-4, which is the fastest car in the world.

This is not true. The SRT-4 is ECU limited to 185999 miles per second, thats one mile per second less than the speed of light. Dodge engineers were concerned that if the SRT-4 went any faster (which it easily could in 4th, I believe) its mass would become infinite and would rip a hole in spacetime, creating a singularity that would end mankind's existence as we know it.

I hear they are using repo'd SRT-4 engines at CERN...but they are still on low boost.

you dont need a long track to hit the top speed limiter, maybe just some late late night open highway...
