Here is a one-line summary of what I found: all oils marketed as synthetic protect equally well, essentially. However, I have found some oils such as Mobil 1 0W-40 and Red Line 10W-40 to provide enough protection to actually prevent and mitigate engine failures. Anecdotal engine building wear analysis means everything to people who actually build engines. Probably doesn't mean much to somebody who pays a shop to install bolt-ons ![]()
