Tranny whine

How much tranny whine is normal? Sometimes I feel like I hear more of the tranny than the exhaust (basically in 1st/2nd gear, in the neighborhood).

If you don't want to listen to the tranny whine, stop letting him/her ride in your car!!!

Really, though... the transmission whines a lot. It's totally normal and is most noticeable in 1st gear. It gets progressively quieter as you move up.

I've never heard my tranny whine. Try being a little more gentle with her stick. Or just gag her like I do.

Maybe when you sign up for the forum it should force you to read about the tranny whine and the clunk.

I bumped into this yesterday...

Is that what you're talking about? Because I don't have this issue....

cruzmisl 07-15-2010 04:08 PM

This is funny because there seem to be people that insist the tranny shouldn't whine and that a replacement tranny was nearly silent.

I have no problem with it if it's normal. It's just that "normal" doesn't seem to have a concrete definition for our tranny.

Zsteve 07-15-2010 05:19 PM

was the whine kinda like..

BOW CHICKA BOW WOW tranny whine?

spearfish25 07-15-2010 06:40 PM

Just shove a sock in the tranny's mouth and it'll be more quiet.
