I did a good bit of research over at BITOG (Bob Is The Oil Guy) and there are a lot of folks who liked Pennzoil. So, that's what I used at my first change at 1500 miles. So far so good and it does seem a degree or two cooler. I now have 2300 miles on it and the oil still looks like new (in large a function of the engine I know but still...)

My dealer is now selling Pennzoil Ultra, so I switched from Nissan Ester at 5000 miles. And there was a $20 rebate from Pennzoil. Only 100 miles since the switch, so no feedback yet but I'll keep an eye on the oil temp (not expecting a change).

I just tried the new Ultra for my last change, was previous using Nissan's Ester oil for my first 14k miles so I'm loving the cheaper price tag. So far so good after 1k miles, no burning issues and temps seem to be good around town.

Pennzoil - Not just oil, Pennzoil
http://www.pennzoil.com/documents/Pr...ewPennzoil.pdf "“We at Pennzoil take great pride in the fact that Shell scientists work as a team with Ferrari in the Trackside Laboratory at each Formula One race, at the famous Ferrari factory in Italy and at Shell’s R&D facilities in the United Kingdom and Germany,” said Luis Guimaraes, VP, Shell Lubricants, Americas. “The technical partnership with Ferrari ultimately provides us with an environment to test new lubricants in extreme conditions. This gives us a better understanding of what will deliver improved protection, performance and efficiency in everyday engines, which is evident in the development of the new Pennzoil UltraTM.” If it's good enough for a Ferrari, it's good enough for my Nissan. Absolutely no oil temp change noted from Nissan Ester, and I wasn't expecting any. Also a $20 rebate, and a chance to win a Richard Childress Racing Camaro SS. What's not to like...........

Bump just to add that while I asked for Ester oil at the Nissan dealer (car's 2nd oil change, just under 7k miles), the SA apparently wrote "Customer requests premium 370Z Oil Service". I watched them put Pennzoil Platinum in the car, which I was happy about, since I wanted to go full synthetic at some point.
I was glad to read on this thread and others (yes, "search" is my friend!) that others like this oil, and have found good data on the product. I am wondering if the previous owner had synthetic in the engine, although I saw no sign of this (such as a sticker in the engine bay). Anyone have any theories about why they did this? I got distracted while paying and forgot to ask.

Pennzoil ultra platinum
Sorry about creating 1 more oil thread...
But wanted to have feedback on anyone who has used this oil before. I know a few here use Ultra, but have not seen any info related to ultra platinum here.

Never used it myself (I've used Ultra and Platinum though), but this might help you: Pennzoil Q & A - Bob is the Oil Guy - Bob is the Oil Guy

ive used ultra ever since my first oil change. except for my last oil change, had to use the new platinum pureplus instead. waiting for walmarts around me to stock the ultra platinum still
anyway, looking at the technical stats between the old ultra and the new ultra platinum, it should be just as good as the old ultra. the cSt viscosity is the same and the only thing that concerns me is the NOACK volatility went up from 6% to 10%. anyway, ive done multiple UOA's with regular ultra, even after track days with oil temps at ~240-250F and that oil held up like a champ. never sheared below a proper 30 weight and had plenty of additives left over even at 5K OCI's. cant wait to get a proper one for ultra platinum |

Recently changed with the new pennzoil ultra platinum made from natural gas. I wish I could post the link to a comprehensive study on various motor oils that went through several test. Pennzoil ultra plat placed top 3 in every test category while royal purp and redline were consistently near last place. If I find the link I will post it. It would help end debates.
