Oil change? every 3 month or 6 month?

Hello

I have a question about oil change. I bought my Z in April 2010 and this Z is a weekend car. The he currently mileage is 1300 miles. Should I do an oil change for every three month or wait until it hit about 3000 miles at 6 month.

Thank you

Realistically, every 3 months or 3000 - 4000 miles is probably fine, and even a bit longer using full synthetic.

Blackstone oil analyses usally point to waiting over changing too frequently.

That said, I check the oil about once a month, and as I approach 3K, once every week ot two. If it looks dirty, time to replace; if it looks low, time to top off.

I would just stick to the manual :), I don't see a reason to deviate here- "Every 3,750 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first"

That's schedule 1 ... There is also Schedule 2 that shows 7500 or 6 months.

See http://www.nissanusa.com/pdf/techpub...2010_N_SMG.pdf

I typically split the difference since I'd be changing the oil every 1200 miles if I did schedule 1. I plan to do 6 months or 3k miles whichever comes first

If you use synthetic oil and you drive under "normal" conditions, you can extend both the time period and the mileage in between oil changes. With synthetic, you can easily go 5,000-6,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first (synthetic doesn't oxidize like regular dino).

If you're using dino oil, I'd change every 3,000-4,000 miles or 3 months, whichever comes first.
