oil cooler install (pressure drop)
Hi guys, is there an oil pressure drop after installing an oil cooler? if ever the answer is yes, can our engine handle it? is it safe for the engine?

If anything, I would be worried about overcooling. In 65 temp, I can only get up to 160 cruising

Which is why you should consider an oil cooler kit with a thermostatic sandwich plate, which will bypass the cooler until the oil temperature reaches 180 degrees (well begins to open at 160 degrees and is fully open by 180).

i live in manila so it's basically pretty hot here all the time. hehe
i have an hks oil cooler. the one mounted inside the driver side fender. the cooler is mounted sideways. reference pics => Google Translate the problem is that after the install, the engine automatically switches into limp mode detecting something wrong in the system. rpm is limited to 3.5k. we also disconnected the battery for a reset. got scared and just removed it for the mean time and everything was back to normal. what can be the problem? something clogged inside the hose? improper install? do we need to fill the cooler first with oil before connecting it to the sandwich plate? bent hose? wrong mounting on the sandwich plate (because there are 5 holes to choose from)? pls do give opinions. |
already have one, oil cooler is too big for daily driving, i need a block off plate. My rough oil temp at highway cruising is 85-95 over ambient temp.
