Did you hear that quick, short BUZZ?

When I start my Z, sometimes, not every time, I hear a short buzz right after the gauges have set themselves, kind of part of the "boot up" process. I also have heard it when accelerating to around 8000 rpm's, just as it gets there. Again, only once in a while. |

Geeze! After all I heard about that awful whining sound, glad it's NOT that!!!
Nope! It's about a half second buzz. Maybe there's a bee in there and when I start the engine I wake him up! Now that I have around 4000 miles on my Z and everything's had time to "wear in," it's probably some little part on the engine that is showing it's personality. As I say, not every time, in fact, hasn't done it in a few days. I'm more curious that anything else. No big deal. |

Have you noticed if it does it when you turn on the car, but not actually start the engine? |

I have a manual, i have heard it or something similar, i believe it is in the dash area or thats where mine seems to be coming from...
i am in the process of tracking it down... and no, i haven't taken apart the dash before.

does it do it when you accelerate, and worse when the a/c is on? my plastic shield between the wiper arms and windshield vibrated like you describe, but also at 2.5-3k rpms. I put thin sheets of foam under the shield and its gone completely. took me forever to find it, but i knocked it out as well as my strut bar vibration and hatch rattle all in one night!

8K?(!) I would think the engine may make some sort of strange "noises" when revving that high.
