it wouldn't take 13k to build the bottom end. it takes that amount of cash to stroke the bottom end. you don't need the stroke and bore to get that kind of power it just makes it easier. you would need new pistons and rods, lot's of studs, some port work, and some properly sized properly large turbo's. you could probably get away with it on the stock block without sleeving it but sleeves would make the engine last a lot longer and if you went sleeved in the future you would need different pistons anyway. you could probably have a sleeved built block for 7-8k the parts would cost you 5-6 and then another 2-3 for labor. add another 10-11k for a proper turbo kit and some extras, and you would be looking at around 20k if you price hunted, looked for deals, and had some connections/knew how to put it together yourself.

People with the old 350Z DE motors are putting down well North of 700whp on a basic built bottom end, 272 cams, and STOCK heads. You do not NEED a 13k engine. Unless you just want to be able to say you have a 450Z.

An engine swap is nice, but the VQ37 already is a great engine to build upon it would be a waste to put something else in. Turbo or supercharger is a nice way to boost the power, and you are able too stay in a safe range for the engine.

+1 Amen. Alot of these builds are seeming more like bragging rights/publicity stunt builds.

I can't wait to see true 370z setups with 750-850 whp range. Or in the alternative, some nice all motor builds...Hmmmmmm.

Just as a disclaimer... When I said he would need a 13k+ motor that was in reference to him wanting the 4.5l stroker like he originally stated. I agree with you guys if he just wants 700hp I believe a regular built bottom end should accomplish that. 370z tt your best bet is to call Sam over at GTM and ask him. I can't stress to you how helpful and knowledgable Sam is. Sam has helped me design my entire build.

Puts alot of things in perspective. Goes to show that sometimes having x amount of whp doesn't mean crap.

The Veyron is a fat pig... it would get its *** kicked in a straight line by any 750+ WHP Evo or Z. The GTR is also very hefty at 3800 lb or so, but nothing near the 4500 lb of the Veyron.

That said, the Veyron is an amazing car. They couldn't have built it like it is without having it weigh 4000+ lb.

yup veyrons are heavy hell they weigh just a bit more than a dodge challenger which is why the challenger is so freakin slow for having 425 horsepower.

I'm leaning toward a N/A sleeved and built 3.7l. I applaud bullit for the stroker but I figure that since Nissan gave us a tach that goes to 9K I might as well find a way to get it there. However, it's going to be awhile before an efficient and experienced build is possible. You could always take it to guys that have built 350z but they'll want to sell you a long block. I'm sure someone will pull the trigger in due time.

Does anyone think are heads are up to it? Heads are very expensive and if the OEM heads are up to it that would be awesome.

you will have to build the heads for that high of an RPM range and probably go to ti valves to free up some weight of the valves.Mine is getting a head job do to it. A N/A build will surely have to have the same. In all honesty a long block would probably be your best bet.
