A careful read of the owners manual will tell you that the auto tranny fluid is intended for the life of the car. I have an AT, not sure I will go unlimited miles with the same fluid. But supposedly that fluid is synthetic with a magnetic drain plug.

Thanks, very interesting. I agree about the unlimited miles. This gives me something to look into. |

I need to re-read the manual... EDIT: Huh? Not according to this... I'm sure there's a maintenance schedule.

thats in there in case for some reason you need to add some like if you had a leaking line replaced or if the car was driven extremely hard and you manage to burn the fluid. it's more like a manual transmission with drain plugs. there are 2 on the bottom of the transmission one is the overflow plug the other is the drain plug. the manual suggests using nissan consult to make sure the automatic transmission fluid temperature is correct before checking the fluid level. you also need to make a special nozzle adapter and pump the fluid into the transmission from the bottom. lesson here is if you want to check your fluid take it to the dealer. personally i have a 6speed and i just pull a plug shove my finger in the hole and if there is fluid its good so STBY.

I stand well and truly corrected.
From the service manual, p, 10 -- "Automatic transmission fluid for 370Z is maintenance-free."

if it is like the G37 the schedualed maintenance never calls for the tranny oil to be changed. I would not recomend this however.
