Hadn't owned a manual since my 300zx....don't miss it one bit. The whole car theft deterrent is funny though lol. I say save the manuals for nostalgia purpose but just like flip phone it's been replaced hahahahah

I'd probably be more willing to go more places with my Z with an auto. Call me a *****, but spontaneous uber/lyft drivers, bad city drivers, with hills...skill is one thing, but driving like something's about to go wrong on a regular basis just isn't right. Even with SRM, I'm sure I can't win my way around an overwhelming amount of stupid on the road these days.

But this might be my only manual car ever, whether it be because of the electric takeover or the next car only comes with a DCT. Took me way too long to get a car like this.

Actually, the best autos (PDK) are better at this even. Take Randy Pobst who puts PDKs in sport plus and let’s them do the shifting. He’s described them as telepathic and it frees him up to focus that much more on all the other intangibles.

I’ve got a DCT GTI currently and I keep going back and forth on manual vs auto/DCT on my next sports car.

You guys are going on and on about autos being better and being faster and track times. Who cares about that?

I bet you the majority of Z owners, Vette owners, Mustang owners, Ferrari owners, Porsche owners, etc, etc, etc drive their cars on public roads, not race tracks.

The whole point of owning a sports car of any kind and having it as a manual is to be "one with the machine". The thrill of being part of the car that's making it move is all part of the fun and excitement.

I've driven cars like the VW Golf R with its DSG and the Alfa 4C and Giulia Quadrifoglio, both with paddle shifters. All three haul *** and are fun, but still not as fun and exciting as stomping a clutch and throwing some gears.

Were all on the same team homies, nobody is attacking anyone's preference and there's no need for tribalism. An automatic fits into some peoples lives better, and some people a manual. We can all laugh at the punks that couldn't steal a car though.

Whats it like trying to drift with an automatic. I have broken the rear wheels up a few times when I had P285's and it was a rush hanging on. Can't really break traction much now with P305's

Automatic are only faster in todays cars cause they come with much more gears. Hellcat is what a 10spd automatic but is manual brother is a 6spd, corvette is what a 8spd automatic vs its manual brother which is a 7spd, people are forgeting that! Different gear ratio is all that makes a world of a difference. But im sure if you put the same amount of gear ratio in a auto vs manual....itll come down to great driver! Just my .02cent

I'm at the age now that the drivetrain doesn't matter. It did when we were all teens in the early 2000s because the manuals were just that much quicker. Since the gap jas closed considerably I (personal opinion) have no interest shifting gears. I don't feel any more or less engaged and have owned manuals too, just got lazy I guess lmao....I do however think that the manual shouldn't be fazed out and in most cases it is more reliable and can handle power mods better. I don't mind my Z being auto, had everything I eas looking for at the mileage and price that I wanted to pay..but in any case I still feel long live the manual!!! Lol

I think those are honorable sentiments but we were not all teens in the early 2000s my Zbrother.

Some of us weren't even teens in the '80's.

Lmao...thats why I love this forum! Can have a fair debate without a bunch of hurt ******* lol. At the end of the day we all love cars...and I'll be honest you don't have to have a manual to just go to the track...most of the racing I've seen has honestly been on the street I hate to say. Take my dad for example, he prefers manual but won't hesitate to mash the gas on an auto..albiet a swift one hahahaha
