I’ve witnessed a lot of younger generation drivers destroy transmissions, clutches, drive lines,etc.....cause they “Rawhide” it! I’ve heard a newer term of “Slip-clutch” shifting & others saying “floating”....I’m more old school myself. Be safe on the road & watch out for the A/T’s...as they’re eventually will take over everything.

Manual's more fun. To me it is like driving a Z or a Bus; one's more fun than the other.

After reading many pages in this thread ( which goes back to 09 and has 121 pages ) it all adds up to ‘each his own’!
For me it was a simple decision, before I bought my Z, I read as much on this forum as possible and the things that kept popping up were Chattering clutch Throw out berig noise Needing different pedal springs And the way too often was the csc failures and the $2,000 upgrade/fix Really couldn’t enjoy a new car if you come out of a restaurant and have no clutch! On a different subject, avoided buying an 09/11 because of the steering lock issue, hate getting stranded! Last edited by old guy; 04-11-2018 at 07:10 PM. Reason: Spelling |

I guess just straight labor, it may be that much. Mine was still under warranty with right at 11k miles when my CSC went out. I had the dealer install the ZSpeed CMAK kit and the Z1 lightweight flywheel while they were in there. It was certainly irritating to have an issue like that so early with a brand new car, but the dealer made it a hassle free experience and it's been solid ever since. My daily is an auto, but the Z had to be stick. Each has their place, and everybody has their own preference. It's your money, spend it how you like.

I installed the Z1 CSCEK as preventative maintenance about four years ago. Cost me $400 for the kit plus $120 for a transmission jack at Harbor Freight. It's not the best kit, but it's good enough for piece of mind and knowing that if I have any CSC problems I won't have to drop the transmission again to fix them.
