The whole thing is not about what/who is better. Yes, I'm old school and I rather have my hands busy than having a freehand to pick my nose as I drive. As someone here posted, if everything nowadays comes with auto + paddle shifters, then I'll be buying used and old cars in the not so distant future. The OP was just asking for our insights as to what are our preferences. In theory, no one here is better than the other (cough, cough).
IMO the true essence of a sports cars are: 1- Tachometer dead centered above the steering wheel. 2- Not much interior space but the driver side (and maybe a passenger seat for the mistress). 3- Low center of gravity 4- And a manual transmission that includes a clutch pedal and a shifter stick. Now, given the new technology and (F1 inspirations) we can find an array of vehicles from super exotics down to the most affordable cars, utilizing this new tech stuff and some of them have proven to be better in some instances where a paddle shifter (teptronic, slapper, semi auto stick) or whatever they call them to be able to set new records at just about any track and even when doing battle against manual transmissions as well. Most of us know, it all comes down to driver and the vehicle abilities but if paddle shifter/slapper drivers feel better at driving without a real shifter and a clutch lever then... let them be. Meanwhile I'll be having real fun with busy hands and feet while trying to tame the Z demons.

I only drive with the paddle shifters, so I maintain the performance feel of the car and it requires both hands to shift gears (up/down). The only part of the equation that I am missing is pushing in the clutch with my leg, which isn't a big deal.
This is my second Z and first AT. I really enjoyed the feel of the paddles. Neither way is right or wrong, better or worse. At cruising speeds on the highway, both are the same.

Also, I encourage you to seek an education because you clearly don't know how to spell correctly. Last edited by 11Thumper; 03-13-2015 at 05:03 PM. |

I have a 7at, and have driven my friends 6 speed. With SRM it feels just about the same as driving in manual mode in my 7at.
And also, whether or not your balls are clean, doesn't everyone just scratch them for the hell of it?

My last auto was a 2010 FJ Cruiser which I bought new and was given a great deal for a fully loaded because it was the last one on the lot not to mention wifey a research nut case that told me that autos got better mpg vs sticks (FJ Forum).
A mistake as I would feel like a zombie driving it home from work since i could not tell how it would do passing cars...go figure (2 lane back roads that if your stuck behind an old lady texting your screwed). Since I got my Z I've come alive and not that I drive like a crazy man but knowing which gear to be when I decide to pass a car makes me feel good and not to mention the adrenaline rush...o on that note is not what type of vehicle you drive is what driving conditions you encounter daily that would decide what transmission to have. If I lived in a city of course an auto would make sense but living in the woods with only 2 lanes to use and few passing zones you want a stick... |

Never confuse education level with spelling and grammar ability. Being smart does not Apply.
I barely graduated high school and I have better spelling and grammar ability than most educated people than I have been around. Kinda funny when I give them hell about it.
