Automatic are only faster in todays cars cause they come with much more gears. Hellcat is what a 10spd automatic but is manual brother is a 6spd, corvette is what a 8spd automatic vs its manual brother which is a 7spd, people are forgeting that! Different gear ratio is all that makes a world of a difference. But im sure if you put the same amount of gear ratio in a auto vs manual....itll come down to great driver! Just my .02cent

I'm at the age now that the drivetrain doesn't matter. It did when we were all teens in the early 2000s because the manuals were just that much quicker. Since the gap jas closed considerably I (personal opinion) have no interest shifting gears. I don't feel any more or less engaged and have owned manuals too, just got lazy I guess lmao....I do however think that the manual shouldn't be fazed out and in most cases it is more reliable and can handle power mods better. I don't mind my Z being auto, had everything I eas looking for at the mileage and price that I wanted to pay..but in any case I still feel long live the manual!!! Lol

I think those are honorable sentiments but we were not all teens in the early 2000s my Zbrother.

Some of us weren't even teens in the '80's.

I own a manual Z that had a bad bushing. The dealership gave me an automatic Maxima loaner which I've had for several days. The automatic is easier but less control. For example, if I want to drop 2 gears and pop the clutch to chirp 3rd to piss off the camaro next to me or instigate a race I wouldnt' be able to do that on paddle shifters or manually shifting the automatic (like I have to do in this Maxima). Next its sequential shifting. if I want to go from 7th to 5th I have to go through 6th 1st.

The manual while requires lots of clutch riding in stop and go traffic I am in control of the trans not a computer. I can go from 4th to 6th if I choose without having to switch through 5th 1st. Or I can downshift and control the release of the clutch for clutch breaking. The automatic does not have this ability. You can down shift but there is no clutch. I'll elaborate a bit more. Sometimes I come off the highway at 80 or so. I'll shift from 6th to 3rd and slowly let the clutch out with a little break mixed in to slowly ease up to the bottom of the exit ramp. I may repress and then release the clutch while in 3rd a few times also. This helps keep by breaks cool, reduces wear and tare on the breaking system etc... Cannot be done in an automatic. Next, if you are really hitting the throttle in traffic (breaking all kinds of traffic violations) racing some one in a Subaru or something else and you need to stop fast, like real fast because of traffic you are approaching at 130+ mph, the downshifting is a great addition to the breaks. DO NOT DO THIS AT HOME OBVIOUSLY! and too far of a down shift step when at such a high rate of speed can cause your rear end to break free. BE CAREFUL!

If you want control and you want to downshift (i use breaks as a 2nd option) than automatic is not so great but if you are looking for a sports car that's easy to drive with the convenience of 2 peddles and one hand than automatic is right for you.

IMO... Ill never drive an automatic sports car. A work truck, or a family SUV sure... a sports car? uhhh. No!

..........are you trying to compare an auto maxima to what the auto Z would be?

also i agree with Jar good luck with riding the clutch that much or wait for the CSC to go out on you which it will (if it hasnt already).

sidenote brake pads are very cheap on a Z and how often are you hitting 130 between lights in traffic? i wanna go there.

your post makes zero sense and it's your first.

you wont be here long

You should really learn how to operate the clutch properly; you should never be riding it like that. Not to mention that brakes are a hell of lot cheaper (both parts and labor) to replace compared to the clutch.

Also it is against forum rules to discuss street racing, so you should probably watch what you post in that regard...

At least you are smart enough to only actually test the Subaru's, stick to just pissing off the Camaro's if you don't like disappointment (especially the automatic ones).

Lol you give out thousands of rep points for each rep. He's only got 23 rep, so it's someone with a lot fewer rep points.

He keeps it up, he’ll get a Darwin Award to go with the pity rep point. And the average IQ will slightly rise.
