Um, Lambo and Ferrari "autos" have very little in common with torque convertor autos like Nissan uses. The good ones still have a clutch or two, it's just computer controlled.

Yep. It'll either be shut down by noon or rolled into the big 7AT vs 6MT thread where everyone defends whichever one they bought to the death.

My GT-R is a dual-clutched transmission. It is really more like a manual without a clutch than an automatic. I am really really hard-core manual transmission driver but other than no clutch it drives and has all the control of the manual so I made a compromise. Even if it is slower being manual I do wish they had a manual transmission version but in the end I am pretty happy with it.

In all honesty, I also am a big fan of the manual transmission. I drove a Honda S2000 until very recently. When it became necessary to replace it, and I chose a 370Z Roadster, I went with a 7AT mainly because I have a left knee that needs replacing and I drive in Atlanta during rush hour twice a day.

i dont think you understand.... wat i dont like about AT is its torque converter. electronic clutch AT is pretty cool. but then the roads in my area are mostly straight. fast stable car with AT =

Why all the hate for a torque converter auto that shifts faster than every manual here. I admit I used to hate them but then I drove it and honestly was really impressed.

because the point isnt about just shifting faster. it's about enjoying the driving experience.

at least the Z's torque converter seems to have a lock-up mechanism for all gears except 1st.

Where is the hate? Most people admit the 7AT is a great transmission. There's just a lot of people who don't want an auto no matter how good it is, especially one with a torque converter. Shift speed means exactly ****.

kinda like if you enjoy music you'd probably play an instrument... even if a computer can play it 10x faster and perfectly each time than you does not mean it's better or more fun.

i like how AT drivers including corolla-s folks are all race car drivers on the street. :icon17:

Whatever floats your boat. Alot of automatics these days shift wayyyy quicker than a manual transmission, but I like having a manual since it is so engaging. A monkey could drive an automatic. Not much talent to just pushing your right foot down and holding onto the steerting wheel.

Up next: Video games where all you have to do is hit start, then then the game just plays for you.

And after that, much like the player piano's of the early 1900's, cars will drive for us and maybe we will be able to get them programed to be driven to a certain style... Maybe a Tanner Faust download...then you just sit back, and get driven to work or the grocery store without having any input. So much FUN

I do have a PDK in one of my cars..............I really like it. If you think you just press the gas to use one you are sadly mistaken.
