Consumer Reports info', spearfishman. Just going thru' these threads allows to you pick up that one of the main complaints by Z (both 350s and 370s) owners is the "sounds" and general clunkiness of MTs.

some folks just suck at driving MT in heavy traffic. i actually prefer MT in traffic because it's a lot easier to control and dont need to constantly step on the brake. just give yourself some room.

Uhh, maybe, but I'm guessing some of us just don't want to operate a clutch and gas. I much prefer sitting back and letting off the brake occasionally as opposed to the manual in all my previous vehicles. Especially if the 370z clutch is anywhere near as clunky as my 350.

I remember asking the same question ... a few weeks before I bought my Z. My favorite response was KillerBee's...

I'm a guy. I bought a sports car. It's a manual. What was the question again?

Why is it transmissions and engines are the only thing where it's considered lame to progress with technology? We don't use the first computers that came out, or the first brick cell phones. Paddle shifting is the new technology, and from what I've read, it's faster. Generally, that's all I care about.

Although it is not a DSG, it is still more responsive and faster than your average sequential manual. Performance stats have even shown that the stock 7AT is quicker than the 6MT. Now don't get me wrong the 6MT is a great transmission too. In the end it really is all about preference.

Theres my response from other threads.
