Default Oil Temp

First I know this subject has been beaten to death but I need some advise.

MY car is running at a normal temp of 220 (pretty high), since in AZ its 100+ every day and it only takes 7 miles for it to get hot. Today pushing it a bit I was 230+ again on a 7 mile drive from work (stop and go traffic / 105 degrees outside). At what point (temperature) should I be concerned about damage to my engine? Also aside form an oil cooler it there anything I can do?

I know many have said unless your tracking your car the cooler really is not needed, so I would prefer not to drop the cost of that when my car is a week old (1000 miles on it) and I have no intension of tracking it.

Thanks in advance for the help and not giving me too much $hit for posting another oil temp question.
