The Redline has been purported to keep the engine oil temps lower (which as you will note has a very lengthy thread). IMO, the first oil change should be the Nissan oil (same type that went into the car from the factory). The second oil change would be the Redline 5W-30. Personally, I will go with Redline synthetic, but not until I hit 3K miles. My first oil change will be at 1K...my second will be Redline at 3K. Then, I will change oil every 3K. Everyone's opinion will differ.
Well said

Would someone talk me into it or out of it. I know its my choice i'm getting my oil changed for the first time in my new Z it's at 3500 miles.Anyway regular or
synthetic i know its 5w30. I don't track it its a daily driver. Thanks for any imfo.
Putting regular or synthetic oil - that's something YOU have to decide. You can go with whatever you like. I def like synthetic oil and went with Redline. I switched to synthetic oil around 4000 miles and today I'm at about 20,000 miles. No problem so far. I would suggest you to go with synthetic but regular dino oil is fine too. You just have to change more frequently. BTW, you can use any on shelf 5W30 oil.

Anyway my dealer uses Ester Oil for the Z and I have two free oil changes, oh well only one left. Then I will change to synthetic.
Is Nissan saying this? Can you provide a link?

IMHO, that has shown to be an old wives tale. Many cars come from the factory with synthetic already in them.

"Not recommended" by who? Mobil certainly doesn't have a problem with it, and they should know. Porsche, General Motors, BMW, and other major car manufacturers don't have a problem with it, and they should know too.
