Seriously though, I turned off VDC this morning and throttle response was a bit better as if the Z wasn't holding back as much.

Read through the thread, and wanted to let you guys know I have the same issue with my 2010 at a low rpm then mashing, there is a delay. This is with a bone stock 370z with less than a 100 miles. Also when test driving an 09 at the dealership, same thing. Both manuals. I would assume as mentioned before that it has something to do with the ecu.

I haven't noticed any kind of throttle lag what so ever on my Z and it's completely stock, with no mods of any kind.
I'm thinking I'll hook my OBDII interface upto my laptop this weekend and record some data from the throttle pedal sensor & the ETC (Electronic Throttle Control) sensors for comparison. I'll let you guys know what I find out. |

it might have to do with the VVEL and the ECU. VVEL opens the intake valve wide open when you get on it allow for more air intake. mabye at such a low rpm it forces it to tun too lean flooding the cylinder with air until the ECU corrects and the injectors spray more fuel. mabye thats where the lag and sudden power is coming from and why its corrected when you tune. If you are going at a higher rpm there is more fuel being put into the cylinder and mabye thats why at higher rpm's (i.e. 3,500) there is nothing but power. I know when your MAF sensor is messed up that theres a lag when you get on it. the car runs too lean and there is a huge cut off at a certain rpm (3,000 rpm for me in scion tc). thats how it to me when this happens. My 2 cents and thoughts.

My complaint with the stock throttle is the delay. Sit with the car in neutral and quickly depress and release the accelerator. In a Ferrari, you'd get a very fast rev and decel. In our car, there is a huge lag on the rev, the car holds the max revs for a second or two, and then it slowly decels. Sure the flywheel has some role, but I suspect the digital throttle is a bigger culprit. Did the Sprint Booster help with this at all? I may just buy one and exercise the 30 day money back guarantee if it doesn't help things.
