Mocal sandwich plate- flow direction?
 

I just finished installing my oil cooler, but I'm a little concerned about the way I routed everything. Instead of mounting the cooler with both ports up, where flow won't matter, I had to mount it sideways (vertically vs. horizontally) with both ports pointing left due to space restrictions. My question is, on the Mocal sandwich plate, which fitting is flow "OUT" and flow "IN"? It's not marked and I think I may have switched the ports so that it flows against gravity.

I've noticed some reduced oil temps, but at the same time it's been getting up to the 200-220 range on the street/highway fairly quickly given I am running a 25-row cooler.

It shouldn't really matter. There is more than enough pressure to flow just fine regardless of orientation..You're just installing a loop into the system..

We have only had 80F temps here, but I rarely see over 200F.

mounting the cooler sideways is better, you want the flow to go in bottom and out the top for the cooler.

The answer to your question is the port with the thermostat is the supply port, which I believe it the right one. (with the plate mounted and pointed down)

You would want that port to the bottom of the cooler, and the return port going from to the top to the left port.

in the top and out the bottom(cooler things are heavier), and that's only if you can prime the engine. mounting horizontally with the fittings on top is preferred for a street car because you don't have to fill the cooler before start-up so it gets oil faster, it also won't affect the dipstick reading as much for the same reason.
