Intake or Exhuast?
Hey Guys sorry if there is already a thread on this but I couldnt find one that compared the pros and cons of just an intake or exhaust. I decided my next mod is either going to be the Stillen Gen 3 intake or the FI CBE. I know I will probably want both down the road, but I will only be able to afford one for a while and wanted to make the right decision. Any sugguestions/critism is welcomed.
Also do either of these two mods void my car's warranty? |
IMO exhaust first...You get performance and visual appeal.

I wouldn't do the exhaust unless I could afford to do highflow cats and cat-back at the same time. It really depends on how much coin you have.

the exhaust. FI CBE is the best imo

Mods can only void your warranty if the dealer "proves" your mod caused said problem - though there is much discussion on this issue, search the forum.
As for your mod - theres a big difference in price between an cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust so if your decision right now is driven by price, then consider that the Gen3 are less than half the price of the FI cat-back. If you are doing the install yourself, intake is easier to do. Performance wise, they will be about the same. The first bolt-on modification you do has been shown to produce the most power (15-20ish) whether its an intake, exhaust, high flow cats, whatever. Then each subsequent mod adds about 5hp or so. These are approx numbers. The best bang for your buck is HFCs or test pipes, HFCs being the preferred option because they are quieter and you still will have cats as opposed to test pipes which eliminate catalytic converters altogether. Arguable going forced induction (twin turbo or supercharger) is a better bang for your buck, but youre spending alot more bucks for alot more bang. |
yeah mods voiding the warranty is totally exaggerated. they could care less about an intake or an exhaust. it also varies dealer to dealer how lenient they are, but in the end the nissan rep makes the call.
That said Exhaust FTMFW it adds power and makes your $30k+ sports car NOT sound like a fricken altima |
