Default Drift Oil Filters???

Hey Everyone

Today I walked into an auto store to get a K&N oil filter to find they didn't have HP-1008's... The guy pointed out a drift oil filter with a built in magnet... mentioning that people that worked there used the brand...

Does anyone know of this brand, have any experiance or the like?

Thanks

Drift? Is that an Australian company? I have never seen such filter in the United States. Would you rather like me to move this thread to the Australian Section.

seems like a dumb idea to have a built in magnet. then its not reusable, and ur basically paying for a new magnet each time u buy one of their filters.

It's good in a way, they're 5 bucks cheaper per filter vs K&N which sell at about 24 bucks here...

And it means when you give it to the work shop to use it you know they won't take off with the magnets...

i see your point, but it seems like less money is being put into the filter itself and ur paying for the magnets still. still point taken.

no you're absolutely right... I have decided not to use the filter as I have nfi what the quality of the actual filter is like and that fact that it does have a magnet and it's still cheaper gets me worried.

Actually some well-known companies design filters with built-in magnets: SARD and Power Enterprises. I'm pretty sure I could name a few more if I really thought about it. The only thing is, they're not readily available here in the US. Otherwise, they're actually reasonably priced. I've never heard of Drift as a company though.
