depends on the shops hourly charge and how long it takes them

just ask the shop you have in mind how much it would cost and they should be able to help you out

ON TOPIC
is there a noticeable difference with taller gears?

I'm getting 4.08s installed next week on Dec. 6th on my 7AT. I will do a full review on them. As for price I got quoted 500 bucks.

im looking forward to your review, i have a 6MT but i personally dont know much about gearing aside from taller gears make you accelerate faster, and shorter gears make your top speed higher

any real world gains by doing a mod like this? and will SRM work after this, if not than can a tune fix SRM?

Based on my research, SRM will be off by like 300 RPMS for the manuals and people say they don't even realize it that much. There is no fix for that as far as I know. Also, someone reported the SRM will automatically turn off once you exceed speeds around 120MPH, but after turning the car off and back on it works fine again.

The gears (4.08s) will make you accelerate much faster. It can take off a few tenths of your quarter mile time and improve your 60' times.

You will lose top end speed, meaning you can know only go to something like 180mph instead of like 200mph. Realistically I don't think any of us will ever go that fast so that's not much of a concern for me.

You will lose some MPG because your RPMs will be higher (500RPMs higher) when cruising around, especially on the freeway. I personally don't mind it b/c if I was concerned about MPG I wouldn't have bought the Z in the first place.

The hardest thing is keeping traction with the gears from what I read. So make sure if you upgrade the gears to have a good set of tires and a good differential (stock VLSD at the minimum).

I will post more info soon when I create my review.

i definitely look forward to it, i have been toying with the idea recently but the fact that srm will shut off is kind of a downer(not enough to put it off though, it just means i have to learn how to heel and toe), im really interested in how it will increase acceleration, tbh i feel the Z takes off pretty quickly stock granted my last car was a turbo eclipse and the turbo lag on there was pretty bad(i didnt spool until 3.5K)

SRM does shut off around 120mph. But it doesn't turn back on after a while, even after a restart.. atleast with my car that's the case.

Yes it does make the car feel faster, but IMO the 1/4 mile times is second place to the 'fun factor' of the 4.08 gears.

And yes, get some good tires!

Can you list what all parts you bought and from which vendor?
Are you keeping the stock vlsd or aftermarket LSD like os given or quaife?

I will list the parts and stuff I got when I create my review. I personally kept the stock VLSD but I wish I had the extra money to get a better limited slip. I should be fine though since I will be driving it mostly on the street and my car will see very little track time.

Sorry guys, I just noticed that the part number is listed somewhere already. Managed to find them eventually.

Dthem, can I confirm a couple of things:

I have a Sports 7AT with VLSD. Can I buy a manual open rear diff without VLSD and transfer mine over? Or, if budget allows for me to purchase a Quaife, can I install it inside the manual rear open diff that comes without VLSD? Or must I buy a sports manual rear diff with VLSD? I'm about to make my order so I just want to be sure.

Thanks!
