I've been using Castrol Syntec 5w-30 for my Z the last two oil changes, UOA results look good so far. I switched to Castrol Syntec 0w-30 "German Castrol" on this

Got hooked up with Motul 300v by a forum member, just waiting to get my GTM oil cooler order processed.

Yea that is what i'm saying, good ol butt dyno. That just goes for me personally, and i did not do any searching for what people were using before i switched to RP. I just assumed what worked for the vq35de would work for the vq37hr. Then i was told by a 350z guru (westpak@HPLogic) that guys who had reported switching to RP in the vq35hr were stating the same feeling of declined performance. I still continue to use RP motor and gear oil in my other Nissan though.

5W-30, 0W-30, 5W-20...

At my first oil change at the Nissan/BMW dealer, the Nissan service chief absolutely insisted that the Zs do not come to them with esther oil in 'em, just plain old Shell 5W-30.

Now, I have a case of RP 5W-20 left from my RX-8 days. But when I asked if it was OK to use 5W-20 synthetic in my Z, the other service chief (BMW this time) practically jumped out of his chair to say "no, don't do it, you need the 5-30 in that car."

I know some of the older hands here are sick of oil-talk, but there are many of us who are relatively new to the car.

I changed my oil to 0w-30 Mobil 1 fully synthetic.. They say the only difference between 0w and 5w is the weight and that the 0w gives better gas mileage.. It's lighter so your pistons move up and down with less restriction...

I got Mobil 1 0w-30 and the Mobil 1 filter and OMG!!! I felt the difference from the start.. changing gears and accelerating feels soo much better!!!!!!

wow.. the power of synthetic oil.. soothes the soul..

I did my 2nd oil change and I used Castrol edge with the napa gold oil filter.
I have noticed that the oil temps cool down faster than with the Nissan ester oil.

It is an interesting read. But as they said in the conclusion it isn't 100% conclusive, the test they used is only 1 piece of the puzzle. Look forward to reading more about further tests they come up with.
