average engine temperature

Quick note to weigh in on the temp posts for comparison, my temp gauge is usually at 205, constantly. Mostly highway driving, but quite a bit of city driving, not much stop and go/traffic congestion. Either around the 40 mph, or 55-50 mph areas. I think that's pretty good temp wise.

Why another temp thread? There is like 1 million of them

i get mine around 220

cossie1600 04-16-2010 08:19 PM

It will go up when the temp gets higher. When it was 90 here last week, my car was running over 220. Now we are back in the 40s, I am doing 200-205. I hate New England weather

Csquared 04-16-2010 09:06 PM

I'm usually around 90C no idea what that is hahaha. Thats with 20-25c weather

Chan Chee Hoe 04-17-2010 08:23 AM

Mine is at 95'C.

Engine temp and oil temp are two different things.

Our engines typically run 180-190 degrees F which is really fairly cool for a modern emissions engine.

But you were commenting on oil temps.....which (literally) could be anything from 200-260

260 = very bad

I get under 90*C on the highway, it's the stop start traffic that gets the temp above 90*C.

Hoping the oil will run cooler once the fulyl synthetic's in but will be hard to judge as we're heading into winter as well.
