Most are a simple On/Off switch. You either have it or you don't. You do not want to be second guessing it.
It's not "I better get some oil in this thing soon" but rather an "Oh Fck! shut it down now before I blow the engine" kinda thing. Last edited by Modshack; 04-06-2010 at 10:44 PM. |

Most oil pressure sensors will let you know when the pressure falls below 5 or 6 psi. Considering idle oil pressure should be 10-15psi and usually a minimum of 35psi or so at 3000rpms, when that light comes on, your engine is toast if you're at speed.
