Most oil pressure sensors will let you know when the pressure falls below 5 or 6 psi. Considering idle oil pressure should be 10-15psi and usually a minimum of 35psi

Most oil pressure sensors will let you know when the pressure falls below 5 or 6 psi. Considering idle oil pressure should be 10-15psi and usually a minimum of 35psi or so at 3000rpms, when that light comes on, your engine is toast if you're at speed.
