might be a dumb question but can adding a CBE raise oil temps? haha

yeah I've been trying to stay in as high a gear as possible these past few days to keep the temps down, but its been in the low 80's here and my temps have been averaging 220-225 in 30+ minutes of regular driving.

It is a shame that Nissan didn't correct the VQ37 VVell's oil temperature problems before releasing it in the Z's. Aside from minor things, that is the main problem we have seen in these cars

I dont think its a major issue unless the car is under excessive load for an extended period of time, but i'd be happy seeing my temps sit comfortably at 180 throughout the driving cycle.

Ya I've been running at 200-220 after some driving. 75 degrees being the ambient tempature. I'm thinking I may want to invest in an oil cooler before the summer

I will recommend for everyone to email your compalin to the Nissan Customer Service email that I provided in another thread and go to Facebook post this in the Discussion Board. Email: customersupport@nissan-usa.com http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/Nissan?ref=mf

The thing is, the engine temps (coolant) are regulated by the Radiator and thermostat and will remain at approx. 180-190 degrees regardless of the ambient temps (within reason). Higher ambients don't necessarily result in higher oil temps.. 220-230 are perfectly normal oil temps BTW.. Don't like it? quit whining and install a cooler for <$300. Nissan isn't gonna do it for you. Last edited by Modshack; 04-03-2010 at 08:17 PM. |

I dont know if auto makes the car oil hotter, i highly doubt it, its prob my buddies lead foot, but my car rarely gets higher than one notch above 220... He sent me a text message of a picure of his oil at 260 lol
It was like 70 degrees out that day.. But his oil is always higher than mine.. we cruise together sometimes and no matter when we check it even if were following at similar speeds his is always at least 10 degrees higher.. His is auto mine is 6m ... dount it matters but his car def runs hotter almost always... He is thinking about a cooler now , but imo I dont see a reason to get one unless you track it. Is 240-250 really that bad for your engine ?

I don't understand why people are concerned about oil temps of 200-230F. Everyone wants to have thick oil and a cold engine running at 160F all the time? Until my car is having issues of persistent 260F+ temps, I'm just going to enjoy the piece of mind I have WITHOUT an oil cooler (no blown hoses, no leaks, etc).

x2 except the comment about waiting until oil is over 260F, by then you've done damage no doubt.
