Any good advise on breaking a new 370Z motor in?

Hey Guys,

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong area, just wondering, the 370Z is the first brand new car I have ever purchased and was wondering if any one has any good advise when wearing the motor in for the first 1000km.

Also another note, I have the 7 speed auto and found it quite smooth for the first 300kms and now it seems to be clunking into gear quite a bit even if I use the manul mode sometimes when I change up it clunks into gear and you get a jolt through the car, does any one know if the gear box is also wearing in?

Sorry very nervous, trying not to take it over 4000 or 5000 rpm, the Nissan dealer told me not too until I get over 1000k and have the first service, they also said driving the car on the freeway at 80km and 90km constant for a few k's was also good they also said to coast down a few hills in 4th gear was also good.

Sorry just the little things but I plan to have the car for a while and I want it to be worn in perfect and run great from the start, I would hate to find out I didnt follow instructions and find the cars a little dead from not bein broken in properly.

Love bein back in a Zed again. Espcially in a 370Z. "Priceless"

I have been staying under 4000 rpms for the most part. I've got on it a few times. The service manager at my dealer told me to do this.

I would say drive it as hard as you can while NOT going over 4,000 rpm. Hit all type roads. Hills, highways and streets. Put 100 miles a day for the 1st 5 to 7 days at least. Or if you can 100mi everyday till you hit 1200mi. That should get ur car pretty well prepped for some serious driving.

you want a variety of speeds and rpms. I carefully broke my engine in, I suggest you take it to redline infrequently, but most times shift about 4-5000 rpms. I also did my first oil change at 3100 miles and drove at speeds up to 120mph (on 1 or 2 occasions). I think between breaking it in and using ester oil it really helped my motor, I made good power on my baseline dyno runs.

^ Just like he said, you want a variety of speeds. You don't want to hold it at one RPM for extended periods of time. Driving it around the city works great.

It's 2000 km or 1200 miles.
