This bad boy will pull some steel just slap it to the bottom of your oil pan. and for the low low price of 12 bucks. careful once you stick it on you will have a hard time getting it off as you will need to pry it off with at least 130 lbs of force.

How often do you plan on pulling down your base pan to clean out the magnetic debris?

One minute to remove an oil filter with a magnet. Or, one minute to remove an oil filter plus time to remove base pan, wipe base pan clean, remove old gasket or sealant from base pan cover and bottom of engine mating surface, replace gasket or apply sealant, install base pan and torque bolts. And, you're no further ahead doing it this way.

Yeah, this just seems like way to much work.

personally i would pretend it's a tranny magnet and not touch te thing for 60,000. It's partially a joke as the one i referenced is way to big but "apparently" it is the same size as a filtermag as they advertise over 100ftlb pull forces on those filter magnets. does anybody here have to pry the magnet off there filter with a crowbar? the amount of force one of these magnets can apply may even throw off a sensor or two. we have some around this big at work and if you stand 4-5 feet from a computer screen and turn the magnet you can see the field lines screw up the screen. not sure but with magnets that can slam together so hard they shatter when set over 3 ft apart on a table who knows?
also if you went this route, after draining the oil it takes like 5 mins. to get the pan off, then you clean it off, scrape the silicone from it and the engine, rub new stuff on with ur finger and bolt it back up. There aren't that many gaskets on these cars as a lot of things are just sealed with grey permatex rtv silicone. i keep a caulk gun full of the stuff in my garage now.

well it doesn't take that long to put on? do the work, go inside drink a beer and watch ashow come back out 30 minutes later and it's done. Not hard and you get to celebrate your oil change while doing it.
