Default very loud clutch chatter when in first gear and i depress the clutch...

so i have 350 miles on my z now, and i am noticing this noise a lot more. when i am slowing driving in first gear (like when i am pulling into my garage) and i depress the clutch, the car makes a very loud chattering/banging noise and it is quite annoying. it happened a few times when i was in stop/go traffic today as well. is this the normal chatter that you guys talk about, or do i need to make a trip to the dealership?

Sounds like you're waiting too long to depress the clutch... TRy depressing and slipping it a bit when you're at very slow speeds..

so you are suggesting to slip the clutch on decel? in all the manual cars i have owned/driven, i have never had to slip the clutch when coming to a stop in first gear...

i am pretty sure mine does not make any noise, let alone a loud one. sounds like you need to have the dealer check it out.

This is normal nothing to worry about. From porsches to corvetts they all have chatter and make noises when oulling out of first and in neutral

???...You don't slip it, you disengage it....your description sounds more like driver error than anything wrong with the car...First manual trans?

i guess i am confused on your suggestion in the earlier post...

the noise happens when i am slowly rolling into my garage in first gear and when i push in the clutch as i am coming inside, the chatter/banging noise happens right then. so slipping the clutch at that time didn't make sense to me...

it's not driver error dude. i have to push in the clutch before i stop or the car will stall. i have owned over 10 manual transmission vehicles. most recently a '02 z06 vette and before that a '03 cobra. not to mention the manual jeeps i have had as off road toys where slow speed/crawling clutch action is required. trust me, it's not driver error...

I believe this is normal. I have a similar situation with my car too. When I depress the clutch, sometimes, I feel a slight tapping. Are you having a similar situation?

These cars are known for this, the 350 as well. I can make my clutch make that loud chatter "if" I slam it to the floor too fast. You learn the smooth motion that is necessary to avoid the chatter. Mine never chatters, "but", I can make it do it everytime "if" I don't work it properly. Same thing Mod said, "You don't slip it, you disengage it"
