AT, burning smell
I searched for this but couldn't find anything all I found it was related to MT.
Let's say I punch it to pass someone or the likes and come to a stop shortly afterward I smell something burning, smells like clutch burning. Has anyone else with an AT experienced the same? |
How new is the car? Get any new exhaust pieces installed recently?
Sometimes that burning smell can come from a new exhaust. |
6k miles, stock

I don't know if it's the smell of trasmission fluid, I don't know what transmission fluid smells like. this is my first AT car so I'm not familiar with what is normal or not with such, just thought that by 6000 miles break in would be done.

Check and see next time you get your oil change if you have a "Cabin Air Filter' installed... That will help tone down the air coming into the space. It won't solve your problem, but at least if it IS something normal, you don't have to suffer.
As for being an Auto, you shouldn't have any problem with an AT as long as everything is working properly. But it wouldn't hurt to go out in the morning before you move it and look underneath for a fluid leak. Or put it on a lift and take a look see underneath. |
Could be a number of things...
Brakes getting hot Tires releasing smells Rubber stuff under the hood releasing smells E Brake bake? Something you drove over/through/around that smelled bad |

:happydance::roflpuke2: Ok In all seriousness, I'd say just take a peek in the engine bay and where you park it for any strange fluids... If there arent any, check your pads, maybe they are worn down. If not check your tires to see if they are rubbing. Check your fluid levels to make sure your full. Last resort, take it to a dealer... |
