So if one were to want to purchase a Carbonetic diff, which sponsoring vendor sells 'em?

I think Z1 performance sells them.

Yeah Z1 has them, also I haven't tracked mine but I felt I was able to tell a large difference in spirited driving from the open diff without a doubt. It is complete night/day difference yes and even when just running through the gears on an on ramp it's much more confidence inspiring. I like the extra grip and less tire slip when drag racing also although I haven't launched mine..just some highway runs(I KNOW FORE SHAME !!!!).
PS: Also I think Forged Performance may sell some Diffs and I looked at Carbonetic also but the frequent oil changes swayed me away. The OS Giken is not nearly as frequent from the sound of things. If your car is a daily and rarely sees the track you can change it every 2-3 oil changes and be fine from what I've read. Also OS Giken has never had to service one of their diffs..ever. In the private for sale section I have a thread started about someone selling one brand new for a killer price. Last edited by B1nks; 03-12-2010 at 06:01 PM. |

I had a nismo diff in my g35, and it was so obnoxiously loud around slow turns, but the performance was incredable. Car hit gears harder and just felt way better all of the time. I swapped my pumpkin back in only a week after putting it in ( traded with someone to see if I could stand it ) BUT I would 100% want a diff like the quaife or carbonetics that do not come with all the noise and skips and bangs. The nismo is not something I would reccomend to anyone who drives on the street. But a good LSD is a great mod.
Any shop could change your final drive during that process too , saving a lot on labor if done at once.

I think chuck meant that since you're opening up the pumpkin anyways, it might be a good time to swap out the final drive as well since it will save you on labor. Most final drive swaps are for quicker acceleration. A final drive changes the effective gearing, making acceleration a little quicker. The trade-off would be reduced top speed (in extreme instances), however the majority of daily drivers would only realize higher RPMs at cruising speeds.

Z emimator has 4.08s in his auto. It's all preference but if gears are on your mind , the time to do it is when your diff is already out and open.
Red370 what parts were required for your base z other than the LSD ?
