The tires perform best at around 35 psi, but at the track you have to start low as the temperature rise from the heat generated on track can be 10-12 psi or more.

Every time I start my car the thing flashes and stays on - freaked me out the first time but then i realized that I had volks on which I don't believe have TPMSs - Happens to me everyday :) but if you are on stock wheels - that's def odd

Mine used to go off every time I traveled around 15+ miles in any direction. Then as soon as I turned the car off then back on again, it was gone. Weird. Since I got new wheels and tires, it hasn't happened once. DOnt know if its related or not.

I just bought a 2010 Nissan 370Z base model, black A/T, base stereo, a fixer upper car. Thought I would save thousands by doing it myself or having a friend help.
Regarding my TPMS, within two weeks of delivery, I went to Fry's Electronics and purchased a Clarion stereo, HD & SAT Addons, did the install and within two days, my TPMS light came on, started blinking, now it's solid.

Returned the car to my dealer, they connected to the onboard pc and there were No Fault Codes, but the light is still constantly on. Next step is the wand, went to wand read the tires and the wand stated "Incompatible Sensors" on all four tires. WTF! The car has maybe 400 miles, I haven't replaced the wheels yet and am getting this message. So after further research from a lead tech at Infinity, we came to the following conclusion.

There is a device called a BPM (Body Panel Module) that sits inside the panel near the passenger side foot section floorboard. This device electronically controls all body related functions, windows, doors, and TPMS sensors. During the installation of the radio, there was a device placed next to the BPM causing interference with the RF frequencies of the TPMS. Once we uninstalled, reinstalled, and rewired the stereo, I had the wheels reset via wand and all is back to normal.

this happened to me today, the light flashed then was steady. after a shut down and restart it went off. a little later back on again. ive driven about 200 miles today and it's gone off and on at least 7-8 times. i kept stopping and looking for a nail or a leak but the tires are all holding at 38psi. i filled them a little high just in case there was a leak in one of them but there is not. will over inflating them make the light come on?

Over-inflating past 40psi (hot) will make the light come on, so 38 cold could reach 40 hot. But flashing then steady usually indicates a failure to read from the actual sensor(s) not a tire pressure problem.

I wonder if what some in this thread are experiencing is not related to this?

TPMS comp. not Interchangeable

I have 2011 with about 350 miles, drove it to Waikiki steady 70mph for about 15 minutes, light came on while I was driving and freaked me out, I slowed down to 60mph to grab to owners manual, thought I was going too fast as the motor still has low miles, found out it was this TPMS light, what a relief! Weird though because after driving at 60mph for about 5 minutes the light went off. This was this past Friday, I drove it today (Monday) and as I started my baby up she blinked for about 60 seconds and stayed on But I just checked the tire pressure all tires read about 40psi, I read somewhere that the dealership intentionally over inflate tires because some cars are sitting so long, I am going to drop my tire pressure to the recommended 34psi and see what happens, if this does not correct the problem I am def taking my baby to the dealership, I have some questions maybe a Guru could answer for me
1. Will the dealership charge to correct this problem?
2. Is this covered under warranty?
3. Is there a Diy fix/reset for this, specifically for 370z (I seen the Diy for the G37)

Just reset your pressures to 34-35 and you should be fine. Tire pressures rise with heat, and increasing heat is generated by increased speed. There is nothing wrong with your car.

ahhh........ the world of TPMS! Great idea, bad design. I have had similar problems also with my 2010. I bet there will be a TSB soon if not already to change something? :shakes head:

I have heard of them breaking off inside, maybe at low speeds they get tossed around (light comes on) and then at highway speeds centrifugal force kicks in and they stay put (light goes out) Any thoughts on this theory? :confused:

UPDATE: drove the car around for about 15 minutes, light was still on but this time it was blinking in different patterns, after it stopped blinked it stayed on once again. Called the dealership told them, they said they would have a tech call me back. Waited 3 hours no phone call yet:( Turned the car on light came on then went off immediately after I started driving and hasn't returned:) So lowering it to 35psi worked, just took a while foe the TPMS to read and reset itself:) thanks for the help I hated this light even if it was only for a few minutes

It happens to me too, when on the highway traveling at SPEED for a while. Though I'm not a mathematician/physics guy, I'm guessing tire pressure decreases with speed of the vehicle and, thus, fools the system. Unless the software accounts for it, it's probably a typical event and nothing to worry about!!:tup:

Actually the opposite happens. The standard air pressure for our cars is about 35 pounds per square inch. Under hot weather and highway conditions, the temperature of the air inside the tire rises about 50 degrees. That increases the pressure inside the tire about 1-3 psi, depending on the tire.

same thing with me... just started today :(

Ive got the same problem, and once i even think about taking it to the dealer.... It just turns off.
