Oil dipstick.

Does it matter which direction the dipstick faces? Meaning should the H/L markings be facing inward toward motor, or outward toward the front of the car to get the most accurate reading? Or does it not matter either way.

It will pop out if you're running high boost (SC or Turbos)...It's happened a few times to me lol.

It won't pop out under boost, and it does not matter which way the dipstick faces :)
