Nissan VVEL Direct Injection

New Infinity M56 with 420-HP VVEL Direct-Injection V8

Looking forward to the same with the V6 in the near future :driving:

theDreamer 02-11-2010 10:32 AM

Can I have that V8 instead in my Z? :D

370Zsteve 02-11-2010 10:33 AM

I wonder if it would fit, whoa

What a beast that would be.

Would throw off the balance though, wouldn't it?

theDreamer 02-11-2010 10:35 AM

It depends on the weight of a V8, V8 does not automatically mean more weight or miss balance.
It might change the left/right weight ratios.

vipor 02-11-2010 10:36 AM

It'd be worth it, just add weight in the back

370Zsteve 02-11-2010 10:37 AM

Would also love to see these in a new Z

Active Noise Control, which reduces undesirable engine harmonics, providing a quieter cabin

Blind Spot Warning (BSW), which helps alert the driver if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area

vipor 02-11-2010 10:41 AM

WTF? Sounds like it modifies your RPMs to stray away from resonating speeds. Otherwise I don't know how they'd be able to do something like that

If that's the case then it really wouldn't be ideal for a sports car

Nope, it was developed with Bose using noise-cancelling magic. Think Bose headphones............

edit:

"Listening to music or conversation in the M interior is a little easier thanks to the new Active Noise Control system. Standard on all 2011 M models, Active Noise Control uses sound to delete sound – generating “canceling” sound from four door speakers to reduce unpleasant engine harmonics. The cabin noise levels are monitored by two microphones located in the M’s ceiling, with no action needed from the driver and passengers except to enjoy the quiet, comfortable cabin."

theDreamer 02-11-2010 10:42 AM

Active noise control may just be more sound control pieces around the engine, specifically designed for certain "undesirable" frequencies.

schrute 02-11-2010 10:43 AM

Accords have the noise cancelling feature now too.

nope, see my post above

m4a1mustang 02-11-2010 10:58 AM

Haven't you guys seen that Acura commercial about the opposing frequency stuff?

http://www.hondacarforum.com/images/icons/icon1.gif Acura noise canceling?
Can anyone tell me if the Acura noise canceling system is effective? If so what models/years, etc. Thanks!

Yeah, but sadly it doesn't cancel out the noise from your wife.

That is how the BOSE system works, it is extra material that vibrates at that frequency to control the noise and then an electronic system to control the extreme frequencies.

Hmmm, can't find info on any materials used, so I contacted Bose for an answer. One of the benefits of the noise-cancelling tech is to filter out road noise. How nice if that was in the Z.

theDreamer 02-11-2010 11:22 AM

Well the way BOSE does it is not exactly the latest tech, it works well for them and is cheap.
I have become so used to the noise it is weird when I get in other vehicles now, a bit creepy not to hear everything.

kannibul 02-11-2010 11:38 AM

I wonder if someone would do an engine swap...lol

ZForce 02-11-2010 01:16 PM

Would lub to see this on the next generation Z. (V8, Noise Control and Blind spot monitoring)

Some questions that come to mind are: would Nissan go this route if it added an additonal 10K (a guess-timate) to the price of the car? Would the public buy into it? Would it keep within Nissan's Z rule number 2, which is to keep the Z affordable?

theDreamer 02-11-2010 01:18 PM

I do not think DI would add 10k to the price, and with how much time until the next Z (what ever size engine it is) it will be much cheaper by then.

^Good to know..thanks and sign me up!
