I find this all hilarious. My Nissan service manager didn't even know the Nissan ester oil existed. They use Mobil One. I think I'll take 'em a quart next time for fun. They're missing out.......

I just changed my oil today and they tried to sell me the ester and I asked for just a good syn oil but they said it was like 12 bucks too so I went and bought the stuff myself. I got the royal purple (5 QTs) and a KN filter for 43 dollars, at oreilly auto, they had a managers special on it for 39.99. Went back to Nissan and they charged me 12.50 for labor and thats all. I also had them look up the TSB, and guess what........

they found it and orderd the parts. hmmmmmm nice. Also had a good talk with the service manager about the GTR, he said he has some leeway on voiding the warrenty on them as long as it doesnt overboard. They had 4 GTRs on the show case and he said there are 11 in the city.

Lol nice. I'm a little bit paranoid though. Especially here in Vegas. If I were to bring in my own oil, how would I know if they put my oil or they stiffed me? Sorry if this is a newb question im not to mechanically inclined

Not true - it's not "until" you break in your car, it's "recommended" as the regular fill oil for the life of the car. See the Owner's Manual for more info...

A service manager job is all about sales and time management. Not a surprise than many know nothing about cars...

I long for the days when the Service Manager was the guy the mechanics went to when they couldn't fix a problem.
