Klunk !!!!!!!!!!!
So heres the deal, i bought my 370Z preowned with 6100 miles on it. Pretty much from day one when im going through say...a parking lot with speed bumps and people crossing and im at low RPM still in 1st. gear and when i push the clutch in...theres a klunk...the dealership says its normal due to the 2 piece clutch or something i don't know...its hard for me to phathom that such a nice car makes such a annoying sound.. So my question is...is it normal?
|
1st and 2nd are hard when it's cold. pump the clutch 2 or 3 times and it's much easier.
|
two piece clutch? Someone verify....

Wrong section of the forum, dude. You'd probably get more feedback if this were in the General Discussion section. This section is for feedback on the site itself.

^ I don't look at that stuff lol.
"Klunk" also tells us nothing. Maybe "Hard 'Klunk' when shifting into 1st and 2nd" or something for the thread title. |
you have to really learn the z's clutch, first and second are really sensitive, so be really smooth with it so you don't get that "klunk" you're talking about.
|
In the first two gears if you mash the clutch in fast it will make a sort of klunk sound.
|
my BMW did a klunk when it was cold. I had it fixed because it was NOT normal.

I hear the occasional clunk but never when I'm smooth with the clutch. I always drove mustangs, and in those cars you put your clutch foot DOWN. With the Z you feather it, it doesn't need to go far to engage, so if you are hearing a klunk and it doesn't seem like there is any other problem...it's probably your driving.

ok cool and next time i'll put my thread in the proper area...what a relief that this is normal.
|
I don't think the klunk is normal, it sounds like something needs to be adjusted. Mine shifts great.

The tranny is noisy and makes clunky sounds. Its more apparent when your in a parking structures or next to a wall or something. The noise is a little annoying considering the type of car it is, but it is a very good solid performing tranny, and that's what counts.

On the other hand, ATs are flawless, for the benefit of those who prefer auto trannies.
