So the general maneger called to the nissan department rep. And
They said they found the ECU which has serial number end with B, makes high pitch noise. Old ECU should be change to New one which has serial number end with A. My service maneger checked ECU's serial number on my car and it's end with B. That's why my car still make noise even though they changed to new ECU. My stupid service maneger didn't check it before he placed order.

My dealer just change ECU which is ending with A..
That noise has been reduced a little bit but still can hear.
General service maneger was not there when I picked up my car.
I think he might say try another ECU.
Anyways... we gonna talk about this on monday.
I will ask them to change to another Z.
If they say NO?? I will hire an attorney.:shakes head:

Hi everyone!! :icon18:My dealership just fixed high pitch noise which is coming from ECU. As you can see, I updated that dealer had replaced ECU which has serial number ending with A. But it was not. That stupid service maneger ordered wrong one again that time. So my car was in the shop again yesterday. This is 3rd time they replaced ECU and Finally the last one does not make noise.
If anyone has this problem, ask your service advisor to order ECU which has part number ending with A. I don't know what exactly the number is. If you have question or need service advisor's phone number, let me know.:tiphat:

Tsb?

spearfish25 02-05-2010 10:29 AM

There better be a TSB. My dealers battle me like crazy when I bring up issues. I've just called them about the hatch spring problem and they were giving me the run-around again until they finally took down the TSB number. I don't dare try tacking the ECU sound without a TSB as they will blow that off every time I bring the car by.

If my noise was more blatant I would bring it in, but as it's slight and some of my friends don't hear it, I'm sure the dealer will be in the same boat and avoid fixing it.

Yeah...The "I read it on the internet" doesn't fly too well with most dealers..

+1. It sucks, but that's just the way it is.

If a TSB is issued I will probably bring it in. If not, I am just going to deal.

I know what it stands for lol. I was asking if there was one. Especially since he knows the whole version "A" thing.

I'm in your boat. I don't want to fight a losing battle. If there is a TSB, then at least I have a foot to stand on when I start convincing my dealership that they have to actually fix something.

FuszNissan 02-05-2010 02:39 PM

Your guys dealers suck...lol

If I drive out to St. Louis will you replace my ECU? :icon18:

molamann 02-05-2010 02:46 PM

I don't hear the pitch but a lot of my passengers complained about it. Working at the flightline has sure taken its toll on my ears I suppose.

Come on out!

With all your tuning expertise, I am surprised your ecu is making noise.

I will seriously drive out there with a printout of this post!!!

FuszNissan 02-05-2010 02:54 PM

Bring it on!

bumblez 02-05-2010 03:43 PM

I think there is no TSB(technical service bullettin) yet. I gotta ask about it.
BTW, I can give a phone number to whoever has trouble with their dealer.
Maybe, my service advisor can explain this problem to your dealer.:tiphat:

Lou, EVERY SINGLE PERSON on the forums is going to go to your dealership to get this taken care of. Better stock up on ECUs!

phelan 02-05-2010 04:03 PM

Lou, what if you order an ECU and ship it to me, and I can go to the dealer and tell them to swap it out...lol

I'm serious. If Lou says he will fix it, I am going to drive out to his freakin' dealership for a new ECU.

MAYBE he'll let me use his TT car and let me drive it from Altered all the way to his dealership towing my Z!!! :tiphat:

It's only a 13 hour drive.

marcussoori 02-05-2010 05:32 PM

m4a1mustang, let me know how it goes...maybe I'll be second in line (IF FuszNissan replaces the ECU for free)! Need my hatch springs fixed too..."only" a 6-hour drive for me.:driving:

NISSNISS370Z 02-05-2010 05:33 PM

where is the ECU located? and where is the serial # at?

trent1331 02-05-2010 05:48 PM

Haha.. St. Louis, 4 hours from me.. :D

:bowrofl::bowrofl:

I read it on the Internet!!!

I hope google doesn't pick this up. Just have your Dealership call the Nissan tech line so they get enough complaints and Nissan will look into the issue. Make sure you have a tech ride in the car with you and duplicate the problem. That will also help. See if the dealership can swap the ECU with one in stock and see if that fixes the noise.

PapoZalsa 02-05-2010 07:13 PM

I have personally taken the TSB to them when I had some issues with the 350Z and they acted like freaking stupids. Like saying" You are not supposed to have that".

FuszNissan 02-05-2010 07:16 PM

Is there a TSB out on this? I haven't read the whole thread.

LOL wouldn't that be something.

zrider 02-05-2010 09:05 PM

bumblez did you go to a dealership in richmond? if thats the case i might just drive down there and get it fixed

Minicobra1 02-05-2010 09:30 PM

In for TSB

Minicobra1 02-05-2010 09:36 PM

I'm surprised that dealers don't lurk on the forums and try to get people to come into there dealership to replace things like this. Obviously people are having problems with ECU's, Hatches, etc. Don't they get reimbursed from Nissan for the warranty work they do? Everytime I've ever taken a car into a dealer with an issue, they all play dumb to the problem, but if they were just a little more in tune with their car community, it sure would be great customer relations, and it would get people to their dealership.

Actually, when I visited my dealership at first time, I told to the service maneger " I read it on the internet" :icon18: At that time, he thought I'm crazy guy. He didn't belive that noise is coming from ECU. BUT few weeks later, he decided swap the ECU for me. He did that because there were 9 tech had ride in the car with me and they couldn't hear anything. So it was unable to duplicate the problem. Also, I went there like more then 20 times and had call him twice a week. Every people in that dealer thought I was lying. However, I was right!!! I mean we were right!! I'm really thanks to every forum members!!:tiphat:

I hate to bump a semi-old thread like this, but has anyone else had luck getting their ECU replaced?

I just bought my 370 a couple of weeks ago, and noticed the high pitch noise this past week. A quick Google search found this thread and a few others, and I'm fairly certain my car has the same problem.

I've got an appointment next week to check out my hatch springs, so I'll probably bring up the high pitch whine then too. Any advice for bringing this up? As in, should I go ahead and tell them what I've read online about ECUs with B serials, or just play dumb and see what they say?

BLUESLATE 03-20-2010 09:15 AM

My local Nissan/Infiniti dealers suck bawls. When I bring up something about TSB, they go... "What's a TSB? What's that?" Thus, I only take my car to trusty Riverside Infiniti or Performance Nissan. Seriously, most dealers suck major bawls when it comes to these kind of things.

If my dealer's service dept said "What's a TSB" to me, a customer, I'd be in the GM's office in 10 seconds with a very foul mouth!

dudafunk 05-20-2010 02:21 PM

Hoping Nissan comes out with a TSB on this.. I don't understand why they don't.

getmecoffee 06-11-2010 07:58 AM

Any news on a TSB release?
