Basic questions re: engine swap
Hey. This is such basic stuff, I couldn't find info by searching.
My kid ran his 2010 370z down to little or no oil. Now there's a loud noise, likely a spun bearing / just toasted engine. Looking for a replacement and apparently it's a pretty forgiving choice with "just about any" VQ37VHR can bolt right in? However, is there really a difference with the 4th VIN digit? I can't be hands on with the situation, so I'm remotely trying to assist locate a suitable replacement, but there's lots of specificity that this one is a B 4th digit, or this one is a C 4th digit... I know the car is an A 4th. Assuming that the swap would entail stripping all the stuff possible off the current motor and using it on the replacement so the ECU is happy? Anyone have some words of wisdom for us in this crappy situation?
