Default Basic questions re: engine swap

Hey. This is such basic stuff, I couldn't find info by searching.

My kid ran his 2010 370z down to little or no oil. Now there's a loud noise, likely a spun bearing / just toasted engine.
Looking for a replacement and apparently it's a pretty forgiving choice with "just about any" VQ37VHR can bolt right in?

However, is there really a difference with the 4th VIN digit?
I can't be hands on with the situation, so I'm remotely trying to assist locate a suitable replacement, but there's lots of specificity that this one is a B 4th digit, or this one is a C 4th digit...
I know the car is an A 4th.
Assuming that the swap would entail stripping all the stuff possible off the current motor and using it on the replacement so the ECU is happy?
Anyone have some words of wisdom for us in this crappy situation?

Like does this look like a viable option and have shipped to the shop?

AFAIK the only thing that matter is whether it’s AT or MT, the 4th digit you’re referring to I’m sure is the updates between the pre 2012 and post 2012 engines which are the main two generations. I’d definitely recommend sticking to post 2012 because that’s after they fixed the Gallery Gasket failure. MT/AT difference is at the flywheel, so if you still have the old one you should be able to swap that in.
Note that while you’re in there you might wanna do the CSC delete/ CMAK if you haven’t already.

I definitely don’t know everything about these engine but I did just recently do an engine swap 2020 NISMO AT into my 2014 SPORT MT no problem.

I appreciate the reply.
The shop that needs to do it (out of necessity for me) said they "won't do custom work". When I tried to clarify there's nothing custom about taking an engine from a G37 that is the same motor and sticking it in a 370 aside from using the bad motor's oil pan, he got all uppity saying I was telling him he doesn't know what he's doing.
I'm done with them.
Anyway, thanks again for the input.
