What oil pressure gage, sending unit, and sandwich plate is everyone using? I need recommendations. Buying tomorrow.

Pretty sure I have AEM 30-4407. It is tee’d into one of the hoses for my oil cooler.

Oil pressure gauge. SpeedHut 0-150 psi. Any gauge you get HAS to read over 125 psi. Cold starts and high rpm will push the pressure over 110 psi.

Would it be cheaper to get an old google phone and use Torque/pro? I hear the sending unit near the oil filter is a switch not a gage??? Will Torque read actual real time pressure on a VQ? I am using for diagnostics only not full time, just street, not track.

Correct, the sending unit is a switch not a gauge. It’s worth the time to install an in cabin gauge. I like the security of being able to watch real time oil pressure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

By the time you react to an oil-pressure gauge, your engine will either suffer bearing damage or be toast.
In my early days I always had a lo-pressure light using a BMC Mini (remember those) oil pressure warning switch (because they were a commodity back in the day and triggered at 36psi) but now I have a Motec CDL dash, I have an alarm set in the dash that lights up all the shift lights in red and the ECU is set to read oil pressure every 10 milli-seconds which is every rotation of the engine at 6000rpm. If the ECU sees 2 consecutive readings at 36psi or below and rpms are above 2500rpm, then it implements a 2500rpm rev limit and wont permit more than 15% tps as it can react quicker than I can - given my visual reaction time is about 0.25 of a second (and believe me, I practice it), that is still 25 rotations of the crank before I'll notice it - ECU management is better (MOTEC M150) For bling, go for it, to save an engine, not sure it will be much help |

For me it’s good to monitor gallery gasket health since I have an ‘09 and haven’t replaced the gaskets. Too bad that there’s no way to have an ECUTEK tune react to low oil pressure like you’re describing on the Motec. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

This will allow oil pressure monitoring and RPM reduction to protect the engine. It will also allow ethanol content, fuel pressure or almost anything else as an input. I have designed/built a CAN bus module and will be testing it on my car with Eugene once this update is released. Last edited by MotorvateDIY; 10-06-2023 at 10:11 AM. |

Wow this is exactly what I wanted to hear!!! (Did I miss this in your thread? Whoops…) That will be a must add for my car when it’s released. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The SpeedHut gauge has a low pressure and a high pressure warning that you can set to any psi you like. My low pressure warning is set at 20 psi. I have the high pressure set at 130 psi.

Normally, I like to have a running prototype before I say anything. However, since I was getting some other circuit boards made, (GTR Converter!!!), I added a board that does "analog in" (pressure & temp) to CAN bus. Once I'm further along with the local testing of the "GTR gauges", I'll assemble, program and test it on the bench. |
