High rpm noise - shifter area

2016 manual 370z, sounds great but above 4k rpm there is a weird noise coming from the shifter area, I thought is was the shifter knob but after disassembling the whole shifter area, and driving without a knob, I think it comes from under the car, transmission, or under the center console.

I have looked to hundreds of videos on youtube, nobody mentions it but if I pay attention I can hear this noise on many other 370zs on high rpm.. Anybody familiar with it? What is it? its driving me mad!

It disappears under 4k rpm

My shifter makes a little rattling sound, it sounds like there is a BB inside the shift knob shaking around. If I hold the shifter it stops, not sure what it is.

Thats exactly what I thought, I would hold the knob and it seemed to mute it, I was convinced it was the knob, took it off but didnt find anything loose, so went for a drive without it and unfortunately it the noise was still there.. I cant find the source.

is it sound like mine? above 4k rpm? sounds like a loose screw or washer

I couldn't hear yours in the video but yeah it is when the RPMS are at a certain range it starts rattling and it sounds exactly how you describe, like a loose washer rattling, a plasticy light rattling not like metal clunking or anything. I wondered if I dropped a screw somewhere that was rattling too.

What, you cant hear it! haha I wish I could unhear it, its driving me mad.. Here is another clip with trim removed, it sounds louder like this. (make sure to un-mute in the top right corner)

Ive been looking at dozens of videos, I hear it in many, always at higher rpm. This is the only video were the presenter mentions it, and in this video he changed the WHOLE shifting mechanism, so it definitely comes from another place.. At min 12:37

Pretty sure that noise is specific to the coolerworx unit he installed. It’s a known issue with those shifters.

Ok I heard it now, I heard it when the phone was close to the shifter and not up near the gauges. That is exactly how mine sounds. Also stock. It doesn't do it as bad as yours though, mine is quieter and does it sometimes but not always, and if I shake the shifter around it seems to stop. Or maybe I always have my hand on the shifter if I am in high rpms I don't know.
