CA Smog legal power increase?

Is there a way to increase power without invoking the smog refs? I can put intake and exhaust but without a tune will those make any difference?

Or can I tune and put it back to stock for smog without being detected?

CAI, and CBE, no tune needed. Add high flow cats. Tune needed. You can have 2 of the mods without needing a tune. You have all 3, a tune is needed. With the new rules coming out. Some of the tuners are limited to what they can change. They have to stay SMOG legal now.

I don't think HFCs are smog legal in CA, and almost no tune is smog legal either. ECU must remain stock, except you are allowed to use some CARB approved aftermarket tunes with a supercharger kit, that also has to be CARB approved. I think there is only one on the market.

There's a CARB legal tt kit now too. But, there are ways around all the ******** CARB, EPA regulations as you can see by my build specs

Definitely ways around it! Just load up the stock tune at smog time, or other ways.... not that anyone here would ever do anything like that. ;)

If you want to get tuned, just buy another compatible ECU (ebay, junkyard, wherever) and get the tune on that one. Uprev can completely bypass NATS so you won't have to get the keys programmed. Then just swap the original back in before you SMOG

Thanks, that is a great solution!! Then I don't have to bother with swapping tunes or anything.

Yep, your original OEM ECU will remain 100% stock and you'll be able to do whatever you want with the replacement and not have to worry about anything. Just plug the original back in when its time for SMOG. I've done it for a bunch of guys already

I'm tuned on e85 with ecutek and I didn't need to remove the tune when I got smogged a few weeks ago. All I had to do was put the stock cats back on for the visual.
