What was that dealer's suggested method or repair then, new short block?
They said to replace the timing cover instead. I then said the main leakage is from the gallery gasket and they said they would not do it cause of the caution message...

I'm curious what are the actual failure percentages or rates. I've read so many different things and I think it's really hit or miss which ones fail. I stopped panicking about it some time ago, maybe it'll happen maybe it won't. However I highly doubt the failure rate is 50/50. If you're worried about it and want it replaced for good measure I'd just move to the next dealership lol. Good luck!

we had an 09 G37S coupe with 125k miles without any issues. Engine has been trouble free.... No steering lock issue also.

Better pull that steering lock fuse before ya posting the emergency here and what to do about it when you're stranded.
