I would love to see these made. Put me down on a group buy if this ever gets done.

If Z1 did this they'd have to do it without being a forum vendor, because I don't think this product alone is enough to justify sponsorship... so there'd probably have to be some coordination with AK to allow this to happen on the boards.

theDreamer 02-23-2010 10:54 AM

I got a PM from them a bit ago, they seemed interested and hopefully ready to do this. Not sure how it will happen with them not being a vendor or anything, maybe they can coordinate with another one here or something.

Would you be interested in a urethane transmission mount?

Z1Performance has finished it, but has found to little support, about 20 people are needed for them to pump this out.

Details:
~150USD for comfort version*
~185USD for race version*

*Estimated prices from previous thread

I will make a public poll, and if you vote yes please reply with which version you would be interested in and I will update the list. If no one is interested or it fails, sorry but they will not build this without enough interest.

Um...

Dreamer, I voted yes, but maybe I should have asked first: What is the skill level required for the install?

Shouldn't be too hard, jeff... just need something to hold the transmission up while you replace the mount.

RCZ 02-25-2010 11:54 PM

how about some diff mounts too :)

haha funny you mention that, now that i have a quaife on the way when i install it i'll be dropping the rearend and turning some aluminum ones up at work. I'm on a mission to kill wheel hop now. I'll save my drawings after im done and depending on how they turn out i may make more as they are pretty easy and i could probably make a set in two hours. If this mount never sees the light of day or i miss the buy i'll probably make a solid version of that too. maybe with a delrin bushing who knows at this point. I need to find a garage where i can work on it and get it out of storage.

Z1Performance 02-26-2010 10:24 AM

install takes about an hour on jackstands using normal hand tools...it is quite simple

phelan 02-26-2010 10:39 AM

okay so my car doesn't see the track more than a few times a year. what makes the 'race' version worthwhile over the comfort?

are there negative effects from the race version when driving around the city?

Z1Performance 02-26-2010 06:21 PM

If the car spends the majority of it's life off the track, I'd suggest the comfort unit. The only downside with the race version will be the increased chances of NVH due to how stiff it is. The comfort version will give most of the benefits that the race one does, but still keep things happy and quiet inside the cabin

Sent a test unit (comfort) to RCZ today for his independant evaluation

Since someone asked, diff mounts are no big deal to do - I just need to get my hands on a rear subframe to take the measurements (they are different from the 350Z, though not significantly). Look for those to come out in the coming months.

RCZ 02-26-2010 08:57 PM

Awesome, yeah diff mounts are pretty important too.

Thanks for sending the mount out to me, I'll get those installed and write a review for you all asap.
