My z has been nothing but a nightmare since I bought it
About 6 months back, I bought a 2011 base model 6MT with 6,700 miles, while I understand a car that sits for a long time could be worse than one that is beaten daily, it drove like a brand new car during the test drive and even the next few weeks, after a short time, the car started going into limp mode every time I drove it, sometimes I could get a few miles, other times it will just die as I’m leaving my driveway, a couple of codes popped up, I scanned them and got p1087 p1088, and p1093, all of which calling for a faulty vvel motor in bank 2, I took it to the dealer and within a 3 week span, they found a wiring harness underneath the battery compartment that had been chewed on by a rodent, additionally, they found some bad quality repair that had been done to the abs system (wire nuts holding wires together), the techs replaced the harness and fixed the abs mess, however the problem consisted and kept giving off the p1093 code, so the techs replaced the vvel actuator harness, and it also did nothing. At this point, the tech told me that the only thing they can even think to try next would be to swap out the vvel motor itself which would require dropping the engine and cost me some $4000, I’m quickly regretting the hole I’ve gotten myself into and I can’t help but wonder, could a rodent chewing on a wiring harness have caused some kind of short or fried the vvel motor? When the tech was retrieving live data of my vvel motor sensors, he says, banks 1 smoothly rises and sinks with the rpms, while bank 2 is giving a jagged, shaky line, up until it goes into limp mode, where it will then take a dive, apologize for the long post, I’ve only been able to put about 300 miles on the car since I’ve owned it, any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated

Rodents chewing on wires can cause major issues. Sorry about your bad luck. Not good.
|
Possibly it was a flood damaged car. That can cause all kind of problems.
|
I feel for you and sincerely hope your issues get fixed. But, you can’t blame the car in this case. Rodent damage is usually major and can sometimes be worse than flood damage.
I would take my time and go over every single piece of wiring harness especially the hidden ones. This will probably involve a lot of disassembly but it is the only way to track down any damage and ensure your problems are fixed for good. |
Yes I’m sorry to hear of your issues with your Z that’s too bad. Rodents getting in your Z and chewing on wires usually cause substantial damage and can be harmful to components. The Nissan 370Z may have it’s corks but overall comparing to other makes and models the 370Z is actually quite reliable/dependable doing all your general maintenance will ensure it. Also our cars are a desired vehicle in the current vehicle market even with the 400Z coming out. I recommend instead of just taking your Z to the Nissan dealership service department bring your Z to an electrical technician how specializes in this area.

Sounds like you work for "Genuine" Nissan. The dealership is the last place I'd take any car for anything! |
Was a pre-purchase inspection done by a certified mechanic and receipt retained?
|
Sounds like the vvel control module or position sensor if there were shorts in the harness.
|
I’m a little confused here, the car is clearly a lemon, you should have no problems getting your money back. I would threaten to file a law suit immediately. Screw paying out the nose for a faulty car that the dealership should’ve recognized. They clearly didn’t do their due diligence.

Bro give some charity so god can lift up the curse from you're car
