Default Cooling Fan Operation

Hello,

Pretty sure my cooling fans are not working, I had the coolant temp rising and rising reading at 205F+ at idle, car parked and neither fan was running. When I drive, coolant temp drops down to 180, so I am sure the rest of the system is working and I have no CEL light/codes.

I am going to replace the control module for the fans, but my question is does any one know the expected normal operation for the fans so I can verify if they are both working correctly? I can not seem to find this information anywhere.
