2014 automatic transmission problem
I sure hope some one can help me on this one. When I come to s stop the car acts like its a manual transmission. The car wants to keep moving until it finally stalls. I shift it into neutral and restart it. It starts back up and seems fine then when I put it into gear it just stalls. Now if I give it gas then shift into Drive it bucks a little and takes off. It shifts fine through all the gears. The paddle shifters work fine its just that once I try to come to a stop its like the torque converter is locked up. Anybody seen or heard this issue? I would like to ad that I talked to a trans shop and asked the tech if I could just buy a used auto from a 2014 or newer and he said any other transmission will not work in my car because of the computer inside the trans had to be swapped. Please let me know what your opinion is. Thank you

Sounds like you have a broken sprag in your Torque converter. Your description is exactly what they do. You need to have the TC replaced and inspect the flexplate.

I was definitely thinking the torque converter too. The trans seems to work fine otherwise. Thanks for the response. Anyone else feel free to give me your opinion.

my 2˘ from a previous g37 question/post...
"hey. it's your transmission/torque converter. can't say which one for sure. my 13 sedan started doing the same thing after a hard pull from a stop. i had changed the trans oil a few months before that. @ 95k miles. i did drive it around a couple of weeks because it was intermittent. it finally started stalling all the time so i swapped it with a used trans/torque conv. myself. problem solved. could be just the torque converter. thing is, when they fail, it produces metal shavings that contaminates your actual transmission. i think that's what happened to my trans. it had metal shavings everywhere inside, although it was shifting fine until the very end. i never got a check engine light BTW." i want to add. check your trans fluid first for contamination. if none, you might get lucky and only have to swap your torque converter unlike me. i didn't bother to check first. make sure to flush your trans cooling lines either way. nissan sales an inexpensive aerosol can for that. |
OE TQ Converter and performance flex plate. Don't need a performance TQ unless you're boosted or want to raise the stall. Check your fluid for metal shavings which may now be in the transmission as well.

Thank you all for the reply’s
Took it to a local trans shop and he tried to baffle me with all this technical crap. I flat asked him if he thought it could just be the TC and he said maybe but only after I remove the trans and tear it down. Oh how much for that? Probably looking at 3k in labor and another 3k in parts. I guess you im just in shock.. So I was thinking of buying a complete used trans with the TC and swapping it out. Now whenI told the trans mechanic this he said “you can’t do that. The computer inside will only work with the car it came out of.” Anybody know about this? I can get a hopefully good condition low mileage trans for 1500-2k off eBay but I know I’m taking a chance. Any suggestions?

Duh. Reading comprehension much? :o
Yeah the 7AT is a little different animal. It is definitely serviceable by a competent mechanic. But I'd make sure they have extensive experience. |
