Nismo oil filter backordered.
I wanted to get some feedback on what an alternative oil filter to the Nismo one that I normally use. The Nismo ones are all backordered at the moment. I wanted something for the next couple of track night events. I normally use 300V with the Nismo filter.

I use a Pure One filter on all of my vehicles.

Ive been using the GTR filter for the last few years in my Q60 and now the Z. Part# 15208-9E01A
|
I also use the Purorlator Pure One (PL14610) on my Z. It does hold a little more oil, so you'll need to add a little more then you would normally add when you change the oil.

Never tracked my car but have driven to speeds up to 200 km/hr and have done spirited driving in dead empty back roads in the middle of no where (no houses, flat, can see whether animals are coming or not etc).
I have used M1 filters and Fram ULTRA synthetic filters with no issues what so ever. The Fram Ultra is wire backed synthetic media, something that the M1 does not have (but is still good). Also it's filtration is 99% at 20 microns I believe which beats the M1 (which is 99% at 30 microns). Only other filters that filter that good are: RP, Amsoil and Puro Boss. I would use Purolator but hard to come by here in Toronto and overpriced if I can find them. Fram US and M1 are on sale regularly. |
I appreciate all the replies, seems like the Purolator is a favorite among this forum. I'm also leaning towards the K& N one as well. I use the OEM filter when not pushing the car, but I run the Nismo one when running the car hard. I've heard of some with FI with way over 600hp who use the OEM filter, so who knows. Probably best not to over think it!

Just stick with the Nismo oil filter, where are you looking at where it is backordered?
|
I usually get them from Z1, but they said the warehouse is getting limited stock from Japan. Might be the end of August before they can ship out. Every other place online is sold out as well.
|
There is very few shipping containers in Asia. They are all here because of Covid. The long dock workers didn't put any empties on the ships to return. So until there is enough shipping containers available. Things are going to be slow.

As I posted earlier in week, the new Mobil1 oil filter appears to be made by Purolator and resembles the Pure one in construction and materials.
You may find that relatively easy locally. Otherwise, KN, RP and Amsoil filters are all same manufacturer with slight differences. You'll pay more for those vs Puro or M1. All good choices. http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-g...-m1-108-a.html |
Just use a stock Nissan oil filter. They work fine.
|
I use the VK56/GT-R OEM filter.
The issue with some of these expensive filter is the metal mesh internally. I open all of my oil filters and these are so difficult to open and inspect. Some could care less about that but over all OEM higher capacity is affordable and unbeatable value. |
What oil filter is shortest in length? (I know, strange question...)
I assume these are all roughly the same, but if one can shave off a few centimeters, that's what I need. The thermostatic plate for the oil cooler makes it a really tight fit up there with the OEM Nissan filter. |
Mobil as one of the smallest ones.
https://www.autozone.com/filters-and...108/196194_0_0 I believe it's the M1-108 |
My local dealership has 15208-9E01A filters in stock, $9.38 each. That is what I have been using....
