Pumpkin Swap

Hi,

The QUAIFE LSD is ideal for me, but I can't seem to find them in stock anywhere.

I have a 2009 base open diff 6 speed.

Can I just swap this entire pumpkin in?

I know it's VLSD, but that's all I need

What are the plans for the car? DD, autoX, track day?

A Wavetrac is a better unit.

DailyZFan 06-09-2021 12:27 PM

DD

But I like to drift here and there; the open diff is just trash. Its insanely good open diff

Once the VLSD gets hot. It will act as an open diff. So I would stay away from that. I got one in the garage that I use for a door stop.

No worries lol, just ordered it. I think it will do my needs for now

Hard to understand why Quaife having the design doesn't just print that metal at high profit

Your dime, so......

In the meantime. The next time you're thinking about the diff again. And want to change it. Here is a list of LSD's to think about. Rated 1 through last.

1. OS Giken. Clutch type and tunable. But you have to use the Giken gear lube.

2. Curso. Same as the Giken. But a notch down. Use any gear lube.

3. Wavetrac. Gear diff.

4. Quaife. Same as the Wavetrac. But a notch down.

There are a few others. But these are what most Z owners swap to.

You can't print it. It is machined out of solid stock.

Love my cusco. Makes the car so much more fun. Can really put down the power in turns. The cusco is a bit noisy at low speeds , lots of popping and banging.

Agree that Cusco is great (at the track) but after a number of years with mine, mostly DD with only a few track days, I'm over the harshness of it. I've just had a Wavetrac delivered which will be installed soon. :excited:

WaveTrac from my research is the #1 daily LSD, but couldn't find them in stock anywhere

I had to wait a couple of months for mine.

Had to wait a couple of months for my Quaife also. Keep in mind that the Wavetrac requires axle stubs and the Quaife doesn't, for open diff replacements that is.
